Top Ten Tuesday is an original list feature meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

I haven’t done a Top Ten Tuesday in a while, mostly because I feel like I’ve done a version of the past few topics previously so instead of following this week’s topic, settings I’d love to visit, I’m doing something different.

Each year we’re fortunate enough to have a plethora of amazing books coming out and the hype about certain books is so much that it makes me not want to read them while everyone is loosing their minds around me. It sounds weird, not wanting to read a book that’s so good no one can shut up about it, but such is the mind of a bookworm.. when I see a book everywhere, I lose interest only to read it a few years later and punch myself in the face for being stupid. So, here are a few books I wanted to read so bad but they were dominating social media so much that I kind of lost interest in them. #ShameOnMe

All of these books have been at the top of reading lists this year, even ACOTAR which is not a new book and I keep seeing Rhysand everywhere, I’ll get to meet him  at some point, might take a few years by the look of it but I will meet him. When Dimple Met RishiThe Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, The Both Die At The End and The Hate U Give were my most anticipated books of the year that I didn’t read. Because I suck at this. And because they were everywhere, by their release days I was over the hype. I hope I’ll be inspired to read them in 2018, preferably before some of these make it on the big screen.

Words on Bathroom Walls, The Arsonist, Eliza and her Monsters and The Wicker King are my newest additions, they have the best covers, I mean The Arsonist is just pure art and Eliza and her Monsters is so freaking cute I cannot. But, again, I didn’t read any of them because reasons.

In summary: I suck at this.

Hopefully, after a huge TBR clean up, I will be able to read more books from my TBR in 2018 and finally, finally meet Rhysand and Monty.

Do you have any books on your TBR you thought you’d read this year but didn’t? pleasesayyespleasesayyespleasesayyes🙏

  1. There are tons of books on my TBR that I haven’t gotten to yet! I have one on there that came out in January and I still haven’t read it! I only recently added Gentleman’s Guide to my TBR, so I don’t feel too bad about that one.

  2. Your blog header is so beautiful and minimal! I LOVE it! And oh damn, I can’t believe you haven’t read some of these books yet. But who am I to talk because I haven’t either! Well, some of these at least.
I haven’t read THUG, The Wicker King, Norse Mythology, Eliza, The Arsonist, and Words on Bathroom Walls. That’s 6/10. But as for the others… YEP. YOU NEED TO READ THEM. I can’t even choose to tell you which you should start with because they’re all so good!!! Fantastic post, I’m glad you decided to do something different instead of repeating yourself. I’m actually going to do the same with the prompt of December 19th! It’s good because we don’t have to miss posting something. <3

  3. Oops. The only one of these that I’ve read is ACOTAR and I read those books as they were released… I loved the series.

BUT… There’s a lot of these on my TBR and I was going to read them this year too… I swear I add more books than I read EVERY SINGLE YEAR. But who knows, maybe 2018 will be the year I catch up on my TBR???

Apparently I suck at this too!!!!!!!!!! 🙁

  4. #Shameonbothofus Honestly, I think 2017 has been the worst keeping on top of my TBR year for me. I was looking forward to so many books coming out this year and probably read a quarter of them??? I haven’t read The Hate You Give either (but want to get it in before the year ends…) and When Dimple Met Rishi OR Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. I deserve to be yelled at forever and want to try to tackle all these books in 2018 but knowing me, thats not going to happen :’) I guess I’ll just continue hoarding copies of books I am looking forward to but not gonna read. #iamaterriblebookworm

    Great post! 🙂

  5. Ah the classic list of shame! I have so many books I meant to read this year that I’ve not got to, probably my most shameful is that I haven’t read either of Sarah J Maas’ new releases. I have the plans to read all the books and then just never get around to it!

  6. I totally get these kinds of lists of shame! It’s just, there are so many books coming out and for me, I always am super excited for them but if I don’t get to them in the next few weeks after release for some reason (and let’s be honest there’s not enough time so I won’t get to most of them), I lose interest a bit. And that’s when books get on my list of shame ‘I need to read these… someday’ 🙂 That’s what happened for me with Eliza and her Monsters and The Hate U Give…
