This is my top favorite Paranormal Romance book series ever, I cannot even begin to tell you how much I L-O-V-E this series! When I started reading the first book of the series (Dark Lover) I thought to myself, this is what I never knew I wanted to read. And it was. Every book focuses on a main character (mostly on a Brother of the Black Dagger Brotherhood) and their mates. It is the ultimate dark/paranormal romance/alpha males (although I hate that term)/swoon worthy book series written so far. Highly recommended, hands down! It has to be read in a reading order so as to not spoil the storyline and make sense – it has a spin off series a few companion/novellas.
“Your language is beautiful,” she said.
“There are no words worthy of you.”
#1: Dark Lover — The first book of the ongoing series focuses on the Blind King, Wrath son of Wrath. He is the only purebred vampire left on earth, the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Darius, one of his fighters is killed, leaving his half-breed daughter, Beth, unaware of his existence or her fate; but not before asking the King for a favor. To make sure that his daughter passes through her transition from a half-breed to vampire, alive.
“I will not fall in love with you,” she said. “I can’t let myself. I won’t.”
“That’s all right. I’ll love you enough for the both of us.”
#2: Lover Eternal — Rhage is the beautiful but oh so cursed one. Cursed by the Scribe Virgin and possessed by a deadly dragon he is the most dangerous one. Unless he is in the battlefield, he has to be careful when his inner dragon is unleashed. Mary is fighting a curse of her own, she is a survivor and yet when it comes to life, she is always way too close to loosing the battle. And when Rhage falls in love with her, his inner beast can’t help but want to claim her too.
“I… What are you saying, Zsadist?” she stammered, even though she’d heard every word.
His hand was shaking as he held it out. “It’s messy.”
Bella took the paper. In a child’s uneven block letters there were three words: I LOVE YOU
#3: Lover Awakened — Zsadist is a former blood slave. He has the marks to show of it. With both inner and painfully etched on his skin scars, he was the least of all of them to accept love, let alone fall in love and find his mate. Bella is from an aristocratic family but no one is safe when it comes to the evil Lessening Society. Zsadist rescues her from the Lessers and Bella saves his from himself.
“Darkness will never take me… because I have you. Light of my life, Marissa. That’s what you are.”
#4: Lover Revealed — Butch O’Neal is a fighter by nature. More so than he thinks.
He is an ex-homicide cop and even though in the first book (Dark Lover) he was in love with Beth, the half-breed Queen, he now finds himself deeper within the Brotherhood than he could ever imagine. Especially now that Marissa, the King’s former mate, may be the only one who can save his life.
“I love you. And I’m going to keep loving you even after you don’t know I exist.”
#5: Lover Unbound — Vishous could be considered sort of a royalty. He was after all son of the Scribe Virgin. And like anyone who comes to contact with her, he too has his curse to show of it. He loves pain and has no interest of love. Least of all with a human. Dr. Jane Whitcomb saw his heart, literally. And if he loves pain, then so does she. Even if she can’t be herself anymore.
“Love was worth sacrificing for, even if it wasn’t yours.”
#6: Lover Enshrined — Phury has made the ultimate sacrifice for the good of the
race. Releasing Vishous from his obligation, he becomes the new Primale of the Chosen which means he is now obligated to procreate in order to ensure that the race will survive. As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants him for herself.
#6.5: Father Mine — Father Mine is a novella about Zsadist and his mate Bella and their daughter Nalla.
“You keep showing up here? Being who you are?” There was a pause. “I’m going to fall in love with you.”
#7: Lover Avenged — This book is about Rehvenge (and his mate Elena), brother-in-law to Zsadist and half symphath, a member of the vampire aristocracy and the “Princeps Leahdyre” of its council. He is the mob guy and an unofficial ally to the Brotherhood.
“Some things are destined to be — it just takes us a couple of tries to get there.”
#8: Lover Mine — This is the story of John Matthew/Tehrror and his mate Xhex, a symphath assassin. John is the reincarnation of Darius, the half-breed Queen’s father. His traumatic past and the fact the he is mute, John is not safe even with the Brotherhood’s compound. He was meant to become a Brother though.
“All his life he’d wondered why he’d never fallen in love, and now he knew: He’d been waiting for this moment, this woman, this time.”
#9: Lover Unleashed — Payne is one of those who know what the Scribe Virgin is capable of. She is the twin sister of Vishous. A lot like her twin, she finds herself injured and in the hospital where she is treated by a human doctor. Nursing a paralyzed vampire back to health was not in Manny’s to-do list but being inside the Brotherhood opens up a whole of information about his life that he ever thought he’d find out.
“People were precious, each and every one, no matter how many you were lucky enough to have in your life. And love… love was worth dying for. Worth living for, too.”
#10: Lover Reborn — After loosing his shellan, Wellesandra, Tohrment left the Brotherhood. Hunting down Lessers is his mission in life. Tohr was returned weak and emaciated to the Brotherhood by the fallen angel, Lassiter. He is the only one who can help him move on from the traumatic loss of his former mate and their son, in order for them to be free and move on to the Fade.
“Love, after all, was universal. Qhuinn closed his fist up tight, and knew he would never, ever take that ring off.
“Always,” Blay murmured. “Because family is an always kind of thing.”
#11: Lover At Last — Qhuinn had always been on his own. And then the Brotherhood came along. He became a fighter, someone special. Being with a Chosen was a choice he made, fully knowing what he was giving up. Blay had been in love with him for years, silently waiting for a moment he thought would never come. But being in the Brotherhood means being closer to death than most.
“There shall be one and only one female for all mine days, and you shall be that only queen.”
#12: The King — Long live the King… After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father’s mantle—with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head. Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet. But when she decides she wants a child, she’s unprepared for Wrath’s response.
He touched the center of his large chest. “I see you in here. I know you… in here. You are very beautiful to me, no matter what you look like.”
#13: The Shadows — Trez doesn’t really exist. Sold by his parents to the Queen of the S’Hsibe as a child, Trez escaped the Territory and has been a pimp and an enforcer in Caldwell, NY for years. He’s never had anyone he could totally rely on… except for his brother, iAm. t’s not until the Chosen Serena enters Trez’s life that the male begins to turn things around… but by then it’s too late. And iAm, in the name of brotherly love, is faced with making the ultimate sacrifice…
“Time was way too finite: no matter how much of it you had with someone you loved, when the end came, it wasn’t nearly enough.”
#14: The Beast — Nothing is as it used to be for the Black Dagger Brotherhood. For Rhage, the Brother with the biggest appetites, but also the biggest heart, life was supposed to be perfect. Mary, his beloved shellan, is by his side and his King and his brothers are thriving. After suffering mortal injury in battle, Rhage must reassess his priorities—and the answer, when it comes to him, rocks his world…and Mary’s.
#15: The Chosen — Xcor & Layla’s story coming spring 2017! Xcor, a tortured soul and a member of the brotherhood’s rival group. Although Layla has just given birth to two infants, thoughts of Xcor consume her. He has fallen in love with Layla, but they both know it is impossible to be together unless the brotherhood gives Xcor a chance to prove himself. Their connection could end Xcor’s lifetime of agonizing loneliness or tear apart everything Layla holds dear.
A little friendly poll… who is your favorite Brother? ♥
