Prophet Cain lies broken and defeated on the floor of his cell. A cell he has been thrown into by the one person who was supposed to stand by his side until the end. His flesh and blood, his only companion. His beloved twin brother.

Cain has sacrificed everything for his people. He left the safety and security of his life of study to infiltrate the infamous Hades Hangmen. He lived with them, rode with them, and then betrayed them. All in the name of a faith he can now feel slipping away from him. Like everything else he once held dear…

4 all hail the prophet stars!

“You changed it all. You changed everything.”

This review will be short because honestly I can’t review it properly without spoiling something and it is best if you go in blind. This is the #4 book in the Hangmen series and it is not a standalone – those of you familiar with the series, you must remember what has happened so far in the series and OMG this book takes everything to the next level.

Prophet Cain aka Rider is probably the most hated character in the story. With the intention to break the MC and tear it apart, he left his cult behind and under a different name and false identity he spent many years among the Hangmen. When the time came, he betrayed them and went back to his cult to take his place as Prophet Cain. But things didn’t go as planned for him and now he’s a prisoner within his own community.

Rider’s story involved a lot of the MC’s characters. Each character got a different catharsis with Deep Redemption. Just when I thought the surprises were over, another thing would pop up. It certainly tied a lot of knots and answered to a lot of questions that readers might have had since the beginning of the series.

I don’t want to spoil Rider’s romantic interest so I won’t mention a name or her identity – she was a huge part of this story though, more so than I would have liked, she was a bit clingy and she literally never left his side; I would have liked a bit of time for Rider to find love, I think after everything that happened he didn’t deserve to find happiness so soon and so well timed, a few punches were not enough to cover all the pain some character are still facing, especially Lilah. And speaking of Lilah, I loved her closure but it did come of out the blue and it was too perfectly orchestrated. The whole story felt too perfect and too well timed, I know that there had to be some major stuff happening for the story to move forward but a few stuff could wait for the next book.

Overall as a fan of the series this made me cry like a baby and I just love these characters and Tillie Cole always delivers, always! Don’t be hesitant to dive in or start the series and don’t get spoiled!

about the author

Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
