- Book 1: Take A Chance
5 all-the-feels stars!
Oh Grant and Harlow are back and LET ME HUG THEM!
“All my life, I’ve dreamed of having someone love me like you do.”
I’ll be honest, when it comes to those two I’m not fair, first of all because even though Grant can be a bit of an – ahem – asshole when it comes to Nan, Harlow is my girl and I love her so much! The thing is when the first book of the series is freaking awesome, there’s always fear that the second one might be a little too much; although when it comes to this series drama is a given and that’s not a bad thing. From Blaire and Rush to Woods and Della and now Grant and Harlow, they all had to go through pretty much every possible thing someone can come up with and somehow it worked.
One More Chance picks up where Take A Chance left of; Harlow, after telling Grant about her heart problem, leaves and he goes into zombie mode. It’s kind of cute how this is the kick in the butt Grant needed – it’s kind of a huge shock to him to find out about her heart condition – to finally snap out of it and man up. He’s always naturally sweet and charming but trying to win Harlow back I gotta give it to him he’s a romantic at heart.
“Message fifty-nine. Almost two months. I’ve never been so empty in my life. You took my soul with you. You took my heart. I’m this empty shell who goes through the motions every day, waiting for you to call me. Waiting until you answer my calls. I never imagined a life like this, but without you, I can’t imagine life. You are my life. You were what was missing in my life. I was searching so hard for something to make me feel whole. I found that with you. You lit up my world and made everything so damn bright and exciting. But now you’re gone, and I’m in a dark place, waiting. Needing to hear you. To touch you, To…”
Harlow on the other hand has other priorities now and she wants to make sure that if she gets back with Grant, he won’t bail on her. But she also loves the guy so much, it’s impossible to stay way.
“My heart had always been weak, but loving Grant made it strong.”
To say that I loved the book and those two would be an understatement. Amazing page turning story with my favorite characters in the series, filled with so many emotions and even some shocking moments that I was really not expecting – hint, Nan! – this highly anticipated sequel not only didn’t disappoint but it made me want to re-read the first one as well cause I need more of Grant and Harlow, I love them!
“You came into my life. You changed my world. You made me realize I’m capable of loving completely. You’re my one. You’re it. This is my epic love, and I can’t lose that.”
Hands down, a must read!
