Unlike The Winter King, The Sea King takes a lot of time to put the two main characters together which would have been a nice build up to the romance if it had gone smoothly.
It’s not for everyone but it’s done so flawlessly, it’s literally calling you to read it and be heartbroken.
Each chapter felt like a slap in the face and it made me feel pretty tiny. Dear Martin is one of those books you can’t and shouldn’t ignore. Powerful debut.
The story takes its sweet time, it creates the perfect narration and it brings this odd city to life with the details and the amazing writing.
Shen has proven that she can write an asshole I can love and a heroine I can root for.
This book is equal parts epic and flawed, the characters are what makes this book so amazing to read, they each have their own unique personalities that shine in the middle of a very under-developed, flawed and confusing sci-fi story.
