A list of my favorite standalone books and completed or work in progress series. Doesn’t matter if the book is not a 5-star read, that’s about the details, I can enjoy a book but still rate it with 3 stars. I have a huge series list, I just love book series but some books have a novella following them and can be read as a standalone or the story is complete with only one book for that character ♥
Complete trilogy series ♥
14 books so far ♥
This book managed to combine fantasy with historical fiction set in young adult while being heavily historical but also accurate and highly entertaining. While I was reading this I kept pausing, to let this amazing story sink in and every time I would squeal with glee, it’s so amazing, it’s beautiful and everything a book should be frankly. This is the story of Vlad The Impaler, if he was a girl.
After reading And I Darken, I was terrified and excited to read Now I Rise because I wanted the second one to be equally as good or even better and if it wasn’t, I’d be devastated. But, again, White surprised me with how well this story is researched, written and how deep and complex these characters are. If you enjoyed And I Darken, you will love this. Well written characters, accurate historical facts, the story is fast paced with so many things happening, I wanted to read it as slow as possible to savor it but that was not possible.
Ever had no words to describe a book? Well, this is one of those times. What I loved about these books were the natural progression of the story, Drew and Trent were buddies and the story allowed them time to develop and get confused before they even started to become more. I loved it, and I loved them and I need to re-read again and again and again.
The Butterfly Garden is a book you need to know as little as possible going in. I hadn’t read the blurb, or any reviews; I was going back and forth between books and I couldn’t get into anything, so I did what I always do, I switched genres and Horror is something I almost never read. And it worked. From the first page, I was hooked.
Books like this one remind me why I love reading so much. That emotional connection with the characters and getting lost in the story.. amazing. Engaging, beautifully written with lovable characters and utterly captivating, I could not put it down! To say that I loved it would be an understatement, it was so beautifully written and it felt so real and so powerful, I loved ever word of it and I’ve already re-read it twice.
This was AMAZING! I love it when books surprise me like this one did; THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT THIS IS HOW YOU WRITE A GOOD STORY WITH NO CLICHES AND IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING! Good writing with a fresh perspective and dual POV which was awesome to have, I actually felt like a part of their gang, they were so easily lovable and I connected with them from the first page it was love at first sight for me
One of the few things that made me love it was the writing, it gave the story the light edge it needed in order the be pretty much a heavy and deep story but told from ordinary people whose thoughts are simple and confused and funny as the situation is developing, even though this book deals with heavy issues it does not mock them or ridiculous them in any way.
The flawless writing and the amount of effortless humor mad this story even more amazing, I genuinely want these two characters to come to life so I can be their friend and hug them. No unnecessary drama, lots of laughter, lots of hot sex yes, that’s another bonus and lots of feels! OMG THE FEELS! So many feels, this book… READ IT!
I reflect back to that night that I read it, I can only smile for the great pleasure that it gave me. I can easily say that – paranormal is a bonus – this book is for the hopeless romantic and those who believe that polar opposites attract and that’s when the true fireworks begin. Apart from the magnificent story that J. M. Darhower delivers, the love story between the two of them made me cry like a little girl. At the end of the book I felt completely drained and at the same time so full of emotions and experience that it truly made me want to get in the book and hug Lucifer!
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. When I first saw the cover my mind thought, LOL next, but the reviews, and the blurb made me give it a chance since I was in the mood for Fantasy. I loved this! I absolutely loved it and I read it in one freaking day. The story is so deep and detailed, it took me a month to get over my hangover and put words in order and my thoughts. What a book! OMG this was unlike anything. I’m usually very hesitant towards this kind of books because I want them to be just right, and The Winter King was perfect; historical done right, romance was left to build up slowly and get to know the characters, court drama was so good and of course the paranormal aspect was mind-blowing. Hands down this is a book worth losing sleep over ♥
So weird it’s captivating; so beautifully written and with a fresh voice and thinking, it really was fascinating and I just wish there was more. I loved this world; I loved how amazing it was to just get a glimpse of a single day from these people that are willing to give up so much they consider so little. Hands down unputdownable and addictive from the first page, definitely worth the read ♥
I’m too overwhelmed with feels that I need to process the epicness. And there was a lot of epicness here. Gambit was such a unique book and I love it when authors come up with new ideas to write and amaze the readers, the writing is amazing, the world building is extraordinaire and the characters have flaws and they are badass, witty and sassy and they are multi-dimensional! This is also the author’s debut novel and way to go CLD, this is how you debut!
To say that I devoured the book in hours would be an understatement. There was some minimal drama which was refreshing and some equally amazing secondary characters that made the story all that much addictive. Overall, just writing the review makes me want to read the story again! This was my first book from the author but it definitely won’t be my last – especially since this is the first book of the series.
What I loved about this story was Dante’s character and his love for his wife, he was true to himself and he felt real, I could feel his pain for loosing his wife, a person whom he’d been with for so many years, plus the fact that he never actually said the words I love you to Val but still showed her his love, it made it all the more real and like it could actually happen in real life.
So, there it is, like I said the list will be updated regularly so feel free to check it out whenever you’re in need of a new read – standalone and series – and if you have a book recommendation comment below ♥
