Lexington “Lexi” Hart is a senior at the University of Alabama. Surrounded by her best friends, her loving family and having fulfilled her life-long dream of making the Crimson Tide cheer squad, everything is going exactly as she always dreamed it would. But beneath her happy exterior, demons lurk, threatening to jeopardize everything Lexi has worked to achieve.

Austin Carillo, starting Wide Receiver for the Alabama Crimson Tide, must get picked in this year’s NFL draft. He needs it. His brothers need it. Until a troubled yet kindred spirit stumbles across his path, where Austin quickly finds he is falling for a young woman—a young woman who might just have the power to save him from his worst enemy: himself.

5 ti-amo-pixie stars!

This story can be read as a standalone.

When I started reading it I thought to myself, this is going to hurt to good. And it did. It hurt so good. Tillie Cole has a way of making you connect with her characters and love them from the get go. When they’re in pain, you are in pain. When they laugh, you laugh. When they fall in love, you fall in love. Lexi and Austin are two opposites that didn’t just attract. They exploded into this mind-blowing love story that I know for a fact it will stay with me.

The book deals with an eating disorder I’m not familiar with. I have read similar books but none of them was like this one. None. I could feel every intense feeling the heroine was feeling during her struggle to get control of her health. Lexi is a special girl, I just wanted to hug her and tell her to look around, she was surrounded by people that love her and yet she couldn’t even see herself clearly. Until Austin. He knows about scars, he knows about secrets and hidden pasts. He knows.

I loved this story. I loved his family, even his fucked up brother that proved to be worth it. I mostly loved his Mom. I loved her so much. Struggling with ALS, his mother’s medical bills are the main reason for Austin’s involvement with a notorious gang. His future is football though, and he is doing his best to not screw up his chance but when you are in the middle of a drug dealing gang, things tend to get out of hand more often than not.

Lexi and Austin, as a couple, are probably the cutest and yet dysfunctional as they can be, they find a common ground to love one another and help each other get through the hardest times. I loved Austin’s Italian. I loved Lexi’s strength. I loved how they managed to pull through and help one another when no one else could. I just loved every word of it.

I would read TC’s shopping list. I’m sure she would still find a way to make me laugh and cry like a baby. She has a way with words like no other. She manages to make her books come to life and suck you in. Yes, they will shatter you and pull you back together but it hurts so good!

author interview

I was lucky enough to be chosen for an interview and I want to thank her for taking the time to answer some of my questions ♥

  • One book you wish you would have thought about first and written it?

I would say Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It is perfect. I love every word, every scene and I’m IN love with Mr. Darcy—the ultimate book boyfriend! In contemporary novels, maybe The Hunger Games, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas or P.S. I Love You. I love the Hunger Games because I adore books with an intended message, something that really makes the reader think. Boy in the Striped Pajamas because as a teacher of the Holocaust, it was so beautifully done. And PS. I Love You, because it pulled me apart, yet made me soar with hope at the end.

  • Ever changed the name(s) of one (or more) of your character(s) while in the middle of the novel or while editing?

Yes. Sometimes the character name no longer fits if you change things about them. Maybe their name is too similar to one in another successful book. I think you find, that as a writer, some books barely change from day one, where other books, you chop and change a lot. I just go with gut feeling of what works and what doesn’t.

  • If you could be one of your characters who would you want to be and why?

Ooo… I don’t know! Maybe Mae from It Ain’t Me, Babe. Although I would not like to be held captive in a cult for most of my formative years, but I just love how she found her soul-mate within Styx and how her strength grew alongside her love for her man. She is a pillar of strength and forgiveness, and I think most people would like to have those virtues. Plus, it would mean I would be with Styx. Enough said. 😉

  • You have to kill one of the main characters in the Sweet Home series (obviously a good one). Who will you kill and why?

No! I couldn’t ever! Not to give too much away, but there is a bit of a showdown in Sweet Fall with one of the supporting characters. I’ll leave it at that. I could never think of killing one of the main characters, they are like my children!

  • Would you allow your fans to write fanfiction based on your novels?

I would. I have a YA Trilogy coming out next year that is different to anything out there right now. I have been working on this for a while. I could see fans wanting to write fanfic about that. If it encourages reading and creative writing, why not? I know there is a lot of controversy around fanfic, and as someone who never did it, I don’t fully understand the ins and outs. I do think it is quite the compliment if someone wants to use my novels as inspiration. As long as there was respect for the copyright, author and original story etc…

about the author

Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
