Don’t say it unless you mean it…

It’s a simple concept, one I’ve said time and again, but something people don’t seem to comprehend. You should choose every syllable carefully, because you never know when somebody will hold you to your word.

Somebody like me. I’m not a good man. I’m not. I know. I have enough darkness inside of me to rid the world of every stitch of light. But there’s one I could never harm, one light I couldn’t bring myself to snuff out.

Karissa. She thinks I’m a monster, and maybe I am. I taunt her with my touch, get a thrill out of torturing her soul. But I’m not the only one. The world is full of monsters, and I’m not the most dangerous one out there.

Not even close… God help me, I love her. I do. And God help anybody who tries to take her from me.

5 stars!

You want to know what’s the best thing about J.M. Darhower? You are never afraid to read her sequels, they simply won’t fall under the same category of being too much or not enough. What an amazing read, I had missed those two and being back into the story was great, Naz and Karissa have that kind of hate/love relationship that one can simply not forget that easily. For those of you that loved the first one as much as I did, this book is a delight to read.

Being in Naz’s head in amazing, that man is full of surprises. As dark as Naz is, it was a joy reading from his POV – believe me, he is dark and love doesn’t change him one bit, it does make him question things around him though and he begins to see things clearly as Karissa becomes his primary focus – her family has more enemies than friends and that’s putting it lightly. He went from wanted to get revenge and not letting anything stand in the way to wanting to get a revenge and not letting anything stand in the way but kill everyone that can potentially hurt his fiancee.

When I started reading it I was curious to see how this one will play out because how do you stand to be with that one person that hurt you more than anyone could? That goes for the both of them. They both hurt the other one – in one way or the other and Karissa still keeps giving him the cold shoulder, and who can blame her, as much as Naz was hurt in the past it still is not easy to accept.

To say that Karissa changed a part of him would be an understatement. She didn’t make him less of the man that will get the job done no matter what – because he still  is that kind of man and he keeps proving it but she did make him want to finally be over with it, get his revenge and be done with it, live his life away from all the blood and the killing. He’s done more than enough for a lifetime, don’t you think?

In no way did he turn into a softie though, on the contrary he is more determent than ever to tie loose ends and move on with his life, but getting out of something that, in his mind he’s not technically a part of, is not that easy. If you enjoyed the first book, you will love this one ♥
