These Royals will ruin you…

From mortal enemies to unexpected allies, two teenagers try to protect everything that matters most.

Ella Harper has met every challenge that life has thrown her way. Reed Royal has a quick temper and even faster fists. But his tendency to meet every obstacle with violence has finally caught up with him. If he wants to save himself and the girl he loves, he’ll need to rise above his tortured past and tarnished reputation.

With everything and everyone conspiring to keep them apart, Ella and Reed must find a way to beat the law, save their families, and unravel all the secrets in their Twisted Palace.

3 stars!

Well this is awkward. Twisted Palace unlike the two previous books felt more like a draft gone bad than an actual novel that had to live up the hype the previous two created.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

To recap the first two really quick – obvious spoilers to follow – Ella, an orphan girl has been taken under the protection of Callum Royal, her father’s best friend and now lives with his five sons, bless them, and dating her not-really-adopted-brother Reed. Broken Prince left us with a huge cliffhanger, Reed was arrested for allegedly killing Brooke, who was pregnant and Ella’s father, Steve, made a comeback from the dead.

What I expected from this book? Well let’s see…

  1. A feisty Ella that will not all of a sudden become a love struck idiot who actually might believe Reed is a killer. I mean, come on, he’s the hero in the story duh.
  2. A Callum that finally found a pair of balls and told his son to shut the fuck up and behave like a normal teenager since, you know, he’s accused of murdering his pregnant fiance and all.
  3. A Reed that will take this seriously instead of trying to get into Ella’s panties but at the same time having a huge fake ass temper and being constantly pissed off at people for no reason.
  4. A fucking explanation as to how the fuck did Callum’s people find nothing about Steve being alive for so long.
  5. WHY IS NO ONE QUESTIONING STEVE, Brooke literally dies the night he came back from the dead – ARE YOU SHITTING ME WITH THIS!
  6. ANYTHING ABOUT GIDEON
  7. ANYTHING ABOUT THE TWINS
  8. WHERE IS EASTON DID YOU FORGET ABOUT THE LITTLE BASTARD
  9. WHY ARE THEY PARTYING AND GOING TO FAKE PROM LIKE NOTHING IS HAPPENING
  10. Why is Maria the bad guy all of a sudden?

What I got instead?

  1. Ella wanting to run, thinking Reed might have killed Brooke.
  2. Reed being pissed oFf at the lawyer, all the freaking time.
  3. Ella wanting to run, thinking Reed might have killed Brooke.
  4. Steve trying to be a father.
  5. Ella wanting to run, thinking Reed might have killed Brooke.
  6. Reed finally getting into her panties.
  7. Ella wanting to run, thinking Reed might have killed Brooke.
  8. Some kind of prom because we need a reminder that they have money and that’s what teenagers do.
  9. Ella wanting to run, thinking Reed might have killed Brooke.
  10. A quick wrap chapter that made zero sense because what are you going to do…

Now, I enjoyed the book like you enjoy a highly anticipated novel that lets you down, you want to read it and find some answers, overlook the weak points and find something good in the story but honestly, going in I had such high hopes that it was so boring reading this. Nothing happens in this book, all the minor action is left for the last chapter and everything wraps up so quickly and there are way too many plot holes to event count. The romance felt flat and forced at times, the characters behaved like children during very important moments of their lives – I’m talking jail time here, people. I just want a spin off series about the boys – you have solid multi-layered characters here, USE THEM – to make me forget this disaster.

  1. I felt this book read like it was written by different authors. It just didn’t seem to fit what we had learned about all the characters from the previous books. No one did what I expected, and while unexpected is good, not so much when its disappointingly unexpected.
