She’s addicted to sex. He’s addicted to booze… the only way out is rock bottom.

No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.

Their real vice may be each other.

4 I ♥ LiLo stars!

“Let me try to be enough for you.”

Better late than never! I finally got to read the first book in the Addicted series by the Ritchie sisters and OMG I totally get the hype! Such a good story, so unique and well written with these two amazing characters that I’m officially in love with!

Lily Calloway is a sex addict. And her pretend boyfriend is an alcoholic. If that doesn’t scream unique unputdownable story, I don’t know what does!

“Neither of us is willing to give up what we love for each other.”

This might perfectly sum up their relationship. Lily’s social life, academic life, family and basically everything revolve around sex. When the next hook up will be, when her next orgasm will be, always chasing that high and wanting it more than she cares to focus on anything else. She has moved in with Loren Hale who shares her addictive tendencies but with booze and they both work as the other one’s cover up when it comes to their families so as to get them off their backs. Lo is an alcoholic. After getting threatened by his father to be shipped off, he is more than happy to play Lily’s boyfriend as they both cover for each other during family get togethers.

“Just repeat this phrase whenever you feel the urge to jump some other guy’s bones.”
His mouth brushes my ear. “Loren Hale fucks better.”

But Lo wants an actual relationship with Lily. He wants to try and make it real instead of just pretend. From the very beginning, he was particularly cold after her hook ups but I did like the fact that the book featured a female sex addict and it didn’t make it porn-ish or cheap or shamed her in any way. Instead it was raw and powerful and so captivating being inside Lily’s mind as she went through a roller coaster of emotions.

“I love you, but I want to love you enough that I never choose alcohol over you. Not even for a moment. I want to be someone you deserve.”

The whole book was a stunning journey. We met these two characters at the lowest point of their lives, we were shown moments of them as children and how connected they felt and how they tried to help one another with their addictions. It didn’t work since they were the ones enabling each other for years instead of taking action and to see them realize how much they needed actual help from other people, so heartbreaking and powerful at the same time.

“Wait for me.” The words come out choked and pained. “I need you to wait for me.”

The writing was stunning. These two wowed me and the situations in which they dared to take their characters were so brave and daring, kudos! Plus these was so full of geek references like Star Wars and X-Men, I just loved all of those, I could not be happier to have little references like those! Better late than never indeed and now I have a huge series ahead of me, if you haven’t started it either, do it! So worth it ♥

  1. Yay!!!! I am so glad you enjoyed it, Kei! I have so much love for ALL the characters but I have such a soft spot for Lily and Lo. The two of them struggle so much and it always hurts my heart for them. So, so glad you’re going to continue with the series! The final book comes out on Friday (May 20) and I will be sooo sad to say goodbye!
