Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by

This is honestly the best Top Ten Tuesday topic for me. I love re-reading and I re-read my favorite books every year, some even twice but then there are those books I loved but can’t find myself to re-read them. Why you ask, well because THEY RUINED ME! They just completely ruined me and I don’t have the emotional strength to go through that again any time soon. Let’s see which books ruined me…

FORBIDDEN // Literally the first book I thought about when I saw the topic. Forbidden was poetic in writing and destructive when it came to my feels but it ruined me. After all these years I’m still not over it and if you haven’t rea– WHAT?!

“How can something so wrong feel so right?”

MAKING FACES // Amy Harmon is one of those authors I know I can’t handle more than two books a year, it takes a lot of emotional strength to read one of her books and they still punch me in the face and wreck me. In the best way but they still wreck me.

THE LAW OF MOSES // I can’t even talk about Moses without getting emotional. THIS BOOK IS TOO PURE FOR THIS WORLD! If you’re going to read this skip any reviews, and IMO skip the blurb as well, you have to know as little as possible for this to work, and it works.

RAW // I… just… *deep breathing* THIS FUCKING BOOK

ALL THE UGLY AND WONDERFUL THINGS // This is one of those books that once is enough. There’s too much going on here and emotionally it got me to a place that I constantly felt sad but also in love with the characters and the writing but also I wanted to wrap them in bubble wrap and protect them but also scream at the rest of the characters, IT JUST GOT ME ALL OVER THE PLACE OK Please, please, please look beyond the blurb and give this book a chance, please!

THE SONG OF ACHILLES // MY PRECIOUS BOOK! I loved this book so much, Achilles and Patroclus are so precious but at the same time, I’m not ready to re-read this now or in the neat future, some pages of it sure but not the whole thing.

“In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun.”

ARSEN // Arsen falls on the same category as RAW, meaning… THIS FUCKING BOOK!

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS // I read this once and it will probably take another 300 years for me to be ready to read it again, if ever.

Have you read a book you loved so much that you can’t re-read it?

  1. I used to re-read books all the time but haven’t had time since I started blogging. I have read HP but I don’t think I would read it again. Part of the fun of that one is discovering all the magic so I wouldn’t have as much fun with it a second time.

It’s hard for me to get through really emotional books the first time so I doubt if I would ever read that kind of book again.

  2. Forbidden has been sitting on my shelf for *years* and I still haven’t read it. Making Faces is one that I liked/loved but I just didn’t seem to be destroyed by it like everyone else was. Which is crazy because I cry over books All The Time. But I don’t think I ever even shed a tear over Making Faces. Can’t explain that one. All the Ugly and Wonderful Things is one that I definitely WANT to reread. That book make such a huge impact on me and I got so wrapped up in it. I want to experience it all over again. Loved seeing your picks!

  3. Forbidden was the first book that popped into my head, too. I literally threw the book down and cried for half and hour. My husband (then boyfriend) thought something terrible had happened, and I couldn’t clearly convey what was wrong. I just kept pointing at the book. The writing was wonderful and engaging, the characters….ohhhh. I can’t even talk about it now. It’s just something that needs to be read.
