Blogger confession: I’m really fucking weird. Honestly, I have the weirdest reading habits, that’s a post for later if you are even remotely interesting to read my list of weird reading habits, warning: it’s really inexcusably long. But for real, I find myself doing stuff that have no logical reason behind them at all, or liking/hating books for the most bizarre reasons, like a character name or a reference. But what I’ve come to realize is that we’re all in this together. Admit it, you read that in a HSM singing voice. I see you.

I see you. 👀

And by that I mean that we all do certain weird things, which makes them less weird I guess so thank you bookworm community! One of those things is saving books I REALLY want to read for another time. When? That’s a mystery my friends, but we’ve all at some point said “I’m going to read this then.” Usually then is a magical hour aka a trip or a special occasion or another season altogether because we all know some books are better read in the winter and some are totally beach books. Such discrimination.

Tell me I’m wrong, tell me I’m weird on my own and I’ll go cry in the corner quietly because this is a legit thing I’ve been doing since I started binge reading books, some books are just more enjoyable when you read them under the covers when everyone is asleep – holy wow that sounds so dirty – and some are more enjoyable on a warm Sunday morning. Not that I won’t binge read either book at a random time, cause I totally will, but there’s an extra level of epicness added when you read a book at just the right magical time. And we can tell which moment and book combination is the best. Because we’re bookworms and that’s like a natural thing. I know you’re nodding right now, I just do. YOU ARE AREN’T YOU

For example I won’t be reading a book I’m really looking forward to if I have somewhere to be or a busy week schedule, I will save it for the weekend or binge read it in 2 hours, there’s no in between for me. As a matter of fact I have binge read a book on my way to work, I got dressed reading it, I walked out of my house reading it, I walked on the street reading it and fortunately I got on the right bus while reading. ⚠ READING IS A DANGEROUS THING PEOPLE AND I’M A WALKING HAZARD ⚠ which is why I save books for later.

list of books I’m totally saving for later I’ll read you I PROOOOOMISE

Before I list my book-I-m-saving-for-later I’d like to apologize to them and personally reassure them that I will read them, I WILL READ YOU YOU PRECIOUS BOOK I PROMISE

shut up Maximus I’m pledging here dude wtf. Ahem, like I was saying, there are a few books I’m waiting for that perfect moment to read them, hopefully this year  👀

The Nightingale // Intimidating book with great reviews and a blurb that tells I’m going to be in a huge book hangover after reading it, so I’m waiting for the right moment.

The Sea of Tranquility // Same case of awesome reviews that make me want to read it, this has been on my TBR for years and yet I still haven’t found the courage to open it.

The Chosen // No excuse. I’m still not over the previous BDB book and I need some time to get into the new one, which is about to become the previous one but then I’ll have two to binge read back to back and that’s sounds awesome!

The Hate U Give // Readers love this book so much and I’ve seen nothing but flawless reviews which can be intimidating.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue // I NEED THIS BOOK I NEED THIS BOOK I NEED THIS BOOK and yet I till haven’t read it because apparently I don’t make any sense?

Clockwork Angel // This has been on my shelf for years and I’ve read the first chapter so many times, yet I never more forward? I’m in this constant state of devouring every page and savoring it a little longer so it can last more? I’m telling you I don’t make any sense whatsoever! Oh and of course Lady Midnight.

Do you save books for later? That’s a thing right, I’m not making this up, someone else has to be doing this out there, show yourself!

  1. I do this! And then rarely ever get tot he book lol
I most recently knew I should wait to read The Crooked Kingdom because I wasn’t in the right mood but it was my most anticipated book so I forced myself and I wasn’t enjoying it at all. I set it aside and haven’t picked it up since.

  2. I am such a mood reader. Like right now, nothing is really grabbing my attention so I have been reading lots of Kindle World novellas that have been sitting on my kindle forever. I tend to snag books when they sound good, but by the time I get around to reading them, they don’t sound good right then. Its why my kindle is filled with hundreds of unread books.

  3. I actually *didn’t* read that in a HSM singing voice until you pointed that out lol. And then of course I did. But anyway, yes, I totally save books for later. Especially like you said about saving them for when you have the time. I also don’t want to read a book or binge a series that I’m really dying to read (like the next in a series, or re-reading a series in order to read the final book) while I’m too stressed because then I fear I won’t sink into the story or enjoy it as much. And of course there are other reasons, like matching the book to season. So yes, I totally get it!
