When Lucas Walker inexplicably recovers from a terminal illness, everyone is astonished –except for his girlfriend Emma, who never gave up hope. However, as friends and family celebrate the miracle, Emma becomes alarmed: Lucas has changed. He speaks haltingly, can’t recall past events, and even his own dog doesn’t recognize him. Emma begins to suspect something is terribly wrong. What happened to the Lucas she loved? Does his strange behavior have something to do with the shooting light that fell into Lucas’s backyard the night he recovered?

As the two set off on a road trip in search of the truth, the journey takes an unexpected turn. First they’re shot at by unknown enemies and then helped by unlikely allies. Before long, Emma and Lucas are plunged into a desperate life or death race against time.

<3 stars!

This was interesting! I requested a copy because I love the cover, I’m a sucker for a beautiful cover and I love sci-fi even though I’m a little picky but I thought why not. It was a bit different than what I had in mind when I read the blurb to be honest and I kind of expected another turn altogether but it was a nice and quick read, it did start with a dog’s POV which might have been just about the weirdest thing I’ve ever read so far, and there was a minimum connection to the heroine which I kept forgetting she was seventeen, seven yes, seventeen, no way. What kept me hooked? The alien! He was so funny in a clueless way, fascinating and so honest, it was cool. He was literally so fun to read, like a child questioning everything in a refreshing way.

“Why would she put “<3” after her name? Did she consider herself to be less than three? And less than three what?”

He had the best lines! Quick and easy read if you’re not in the mood for heavy sci-fi and definitely on the fluffy side in a good way!
