“I’m falling in love with you,” he said softly.
First I want to acknowledge something… I’m addicted to the way Alessandra Torre manages to bring an element of mystery and suspense in her books. You know it’s coming, you try to guess, you try to read between the lines but you have no clue. It just comes out of nowhere. Just when you think you have it all figured out, nope… and that’s what makes her books so damn addictive – apart from the amazing writing and the characters!
This book is no exception, this is my third AT book and I love it just as much as the first two – but shhhh don’t tell the others. AT + love triangle + big plot twist = one epic read!
Moonshot is all kinds of awesome. This is a story about two people that against everyone tried to be together but ultimately they didn’t make it. The first time.
Chase Stern is the bad boy who will sleep with everything that moves, when he sleeps with a teammate’s wife, he gets dropped from the team and later joins the Yankees. Now, I really am clueless when it comes to baseball so I found this to be so amazing in the detailed descriptions that didn’t bore me, they were just enough and carefully added to make me understand what was happening.
Ty is the ball girl and the owner’s daughter. She’s barely eighteen and a totally fangirl over Chase. You see where I’m going with this right?
“I didn’t want to be pretty to Chase Stern. I wanted to be invisible. He was God’s gift to our team, not to me.”
Her father warns her that Chase will go after her but she’s seen the type of women he goes after and she thinks she doesn’t fit the type. But she so does.
“He couldn’t. Never again, not with anyone else. Nothing would ever, after that moment, compare. A woman shouldn’t be created in such heartbreakingly beautiful combinations. A woman shouldn’t, in fifteen minutes, have the ability to ruin him for life.”
The way Ty and Chase came together was so beautiful, I could not put it down or stop reading, the book gives us such a vivid description of the forbidden romance that I was hooked. First encounter of the two is when she walks in on him naked in the locker room. I mean, there’s so much a girl can take right?
But then things start happening; the team starts loosing games and girls start getting murdered.
There’s a time jump of 4 years which I didn’t see coming but it helped the story develop and the team and the characters do stuff in the meantime so I get it. 4 years later and Chase is back on the team.
“I’m not sure how much you remember from before.”
“Everything,” he answered… “I remember everything.”
I can’t really review this without spoiling some of the things that happen, just know that it’s an Alessandra Torre book – any book of hers can be a fantastic read and a great introduction to her books – and this will keep you reading until the last page and just when you think you’ve got it, you’ll be surprised.
“What do you want from me?”
His eyes softened, his mouth, when it pressed to me, gentle and soft, a plea of lips against a weak soul. “Everything. I want a life with you. I want to be the father of your children. I want every second we missed and a million more. And I’ll give away the world to get it.”
