Top Ten Tuesday is an original list feature meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

Hello lovely people! I felt like doing something different this week so I’m skipping the Holiday Gift TTT and I’m going to do a movie freebie one I didn’t have time to post a couple of weeks ago and I’m doing one of my favorite things, movie talk! You know how much I love movies and how I divide my time between reading and movies/TV, so I’m going to once again talk to you about it and since holidays are upon us it’s the perfect time to watch any of these! Click on the title for the IMDb page.

Time Lapse // A photo machine that takes pictures of the future, three friends with different aspirations, a movie with a lot of twists that will have you watch it over and over and over again. Don’t watch the trailer! (Seriously trailers needs to cool with the spoilers!)

A Long Way Down // One of my favorite book adaptations! One building, four people about to jump that make a sort of friendship pact to stay alive for a month; lots of things that give you perspective.

Like Crazy // If you are a romantic and in need for a movie that JUST WATCH IT!

Also, this movie is the source of every tumblr gif, post etc..

I Origins // Do you believe in reincarnation? Well, after this movie you will at least google a lot of stuff.

“My atoms have always loved your atoms.”

Prisoners // Not an easy movie to watch or one you’ll die to watch again but once is enough and after the end, it will most definitely haunt you.

Children of Men // The world’s youngest citizen dies at 18, babies are no longer born and the world is a massive riot.

Chronicle // The other side of superhero movies.

The Tribe // If you haven’t seen The Tribe yet – aka Plemya – you need to. It has no subtitles or voice overs, there’s not a single spoken word in this one and before it I had never seen a movie that is entirely in sign language. Personally I have some experience with sign language but it’s not a universal language, so understandably I only got a teeny tiny fraction of this, still, a movie worth watching for so many different reasons. Also, you might watch to check IMDb for warning, there are some disturbing scene included.

Enemy // Enemy is the kind of movie that still has people trying to explain it and decode it. No matter how many times you watch this movie, each time will be different, you will be left with different feelings and more clues than before, or less, it most certainly won’t leave you unaffected.

From Beginning to End // Saved the best for last. First of all I love Portuguese so that was a major bonus. This movie is one of my very favorites because every time I watch it I end up with different feelings and different meanings and interpretations. It’s not for everyone, in fact, it’s for a very limited audience and for those who like being outside of their comfort zone but for that reason exactly, I will never stop recommending it.

“To understand our love they’d have to turn the world upside down.”

What will you be watching during the holidays?
Have you seen any of these?

  1. I don’t watch a lot of movies anymore, but I still always plan to catch up on them. Especially when I see recommendation posts like this 🙂 Like Crazy has been on my radar for a while, I should really watch it soon! And Time Lapse sounds intriguing, will have to check it out (without watching the trailer of course) 😉

    1. Children of Men is such a great movie, you need to watch it properly! I Origins needs more exposure IMO and A Long Way Down is a book adaptation, I read the book after the movie and I just loved it, different writing style combined with different POVs, great combination!

    1. Oh it was so good, I loved that I didn’t know what they were saying most of the time since sign language is not international and add a lot of slang to that, plus figuring out what is happening without a context is a great movie experience, so authentic if not a little disturbing at times. Well now you have 10 new movies to watch, I hope you enjoy!

  2. Okay is it bad that I haven’t seen most of these? I thought I was good with keeping up to date with movies etc but I’m really not lol.

Like Crazy looks so good! And I love Anton Yelchin, I’m still so sad he died 🙁 He had such amazing talent. I love to watch most of his movies. Have you seen Rudderless? That movie had me in tears.

I tried to enjoy Chronicle but I ended up walking out half way through, I was so bored with that movie. But I’m really not good with documentary style movies. It gives me motionsickness, so I definitely think that was a part of the reason why I didn’t like it.

    1. I was crushed when Anton passed, I’m glad they’re not recasting him on Star Trek. No, I haven’t but thank you, I’m always open to new movie suggestions!

Oh no, I’m sorry. I happen to love footage movies, they feel so authentic to me but I understand how someone can have a problem with the shaky cams. I hope you enjoy the rest if you happen to see any 🙂
