Raised as a prototype for the Georgian Bratva’s obedience drug, 221 fails to think, act, or live for himself; he’s his master’s perfectly-crafted killing puppet. Standing at six-foot-six, weighing two-hundred-and-fifty pounds, and unrivaled in to-the-death combat, 221 successfully secures business for the Georgian Mafiya Boss of NYC, who rules the dark world of the criminal underground. Until his enemies capture him.

Talia Tolstaia dreams to break from the heavy clutches of Bratva life. She dreams of another life–away from the stifling leash of her Russian Bratva Boss father and from the brutality of her work at The Dungeon, her criminal family’s underground death-match enterprise. But when she stumbles upon her family’s captive who is more monster than man, she starts to see the man underneath. A powerful, beautiful, damaged man whose heart calls to hers. But sacrifices must be made–blood for blood…life for life…souls for scarred souls…

4 stars!

I still remember reading Raze almost a year ago and it was an instant even though last minute addition to my top books of the year! The second book in the Scarred Souls series was heartbreaking to say the least! 221 or Zaal as he is later introduced is yet another prototype for the Georgian Bratva, unlike Luka though Zaal’s drug is more powerful and it does not fail. Zaal and Talia’s book (Luka’s sister) starts with a bang. After being rescued, Luka is following up on 362’s promise and saves Zaal. Zaal aka 221 is a killing machine. He literally will kill on command.

Luka saves him and helps him detox from the experimental drug the Bratva had him on. 221 was so amazing to read about, he really had this raw emotion and I cried my heart out with this one too.

Talia’s romance with 221 started when Luka uses the family house for his detox. To say their relationship is intense is would be an understatement; this book has a hint of something forbidden and a family fraud involved that developed beautifully. They effortlessly find each other and they never let go throughout the book which I loved. Of course we got a lot of Luka’s POV as well and more of him and Kisa! ♥

Another amazing book from Tillie Cole and I don’t even have to mention her awesome and raw writing anymore, it’s a given and if you haven’t read any of her books yet, what are you waiting for…?

about the author

Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
