Top Ten Tuesday is an original list feature meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

The opposite of last week’s topic and again, these are just things like the cover, authors, genres and stuff. DNFing a book while reading it is another thing altogether.

  • Road trips: One word for books with road trips, BORING!
  • Colleen Hoover: I feel like I’m the only one who even notices CoHo’s insta-love? 1-2 of her books I’ve enjoyed but I’m not sure I’ll read any more.
  • Kristen Ashley: KA biker romances? Absolutely ridiculous. KA paranormal? YES PLEASE!
  • Blurbs with questions that spoil the plot: Will Character A and Character B find love? Obviously since it’s a romance book. Next!
  • Zombies: Haven’t even watched a single Walking Dead episode but I might occasionally watch a good zombie movie like The Girl With All The Gifts but read them? Nope.
  • Alpha male: Can people stop using that word?!
  • Titles with CEO/Billionaire/Rockstar: ?
  • Realistic fiction: Speaking from experience, books categorized as realistic fiction are the least realistic ones to me.
  • Books with the same stock pictures and bad fonts: I mean, really?
  • BDSM: Make. It. Stop.

What makes you NOT want to read a book?

  1. I agree with so many of these!! *hi fives* And also omg roadtrips/quests ARE so boring. ? I can’t handle all that endless walking…there’s like nothing to make that interesting. Aaaand so not here for alpha males (ew to that whol trope) and bad covers. I also read one Colleen Hoover book and NEVER AGAIN.?

  2. You hurt my heart with your lack of love for road trips lol!! I agree with blurbs that spoil. SO anoying. It is why I hardly read them and definitely do not read them right before I start a book. Ah and the same stock photos on covers. It is such a turn off . Great list!!

  3. Alpha males make me insane. I wouldn’t put up with that kind of behavior in my husband, why do I want it in my fantasy world? The whole CEO/Billionaire thing is silly, too. But it seems a lot of people like it, too.

There was a time when I’d read a BDSM novel. But that was back in the days when it was still rare and unusual. These days it seems like the author has delved into the weirdest porn they could find and decided to work it all into their novella. That said, like above, it’s what a lot of people seem to want. Good thing there are so many books out there. 😀

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday!
