Meet Oakley Ford-teen celebrity, renowned pop star, child of famous movie stars, hottie with millions of fangirls… and restless troublemaker. On the surface he has it all, but with his home life disintegrating, his music well suddenly running dry, and the tabloids having a field day over his outrageous exploits, Oakley’s team decides it’s time for an intervention. The result: an image overhaul, complete with a fake girlfriend meant to show the world he’s settled down.

Enter seventeen-year-old Vaughn Bennett-devoted sister, part-time waitress, the definition of “normal.” Under ordinary circumstances she’d never have taken this gig, but with her family strapped for cash, she doesn’t have much of a choice. And for the money Oakley’s team is paying her, she figures she can put up with outlandish Hollywood parties and a team of publicists watching her every move. So what if she thinks Oakley’s a shallow, self-centered jerk? It’s not like they’re going to fall for each other in real life…right?

4 stars!

I admit that I requested an ARC just because Erin Watt is kickass and I loved Paper Princess so I hadn’t read the blurb in months. I. Loved. It. This book easily gets 4 stars for the binge read factor, I seriously read this within a couple of hours and I could totally read 2 more books, seriously didn’t want it to end!

Oakley Ford is a teen pop sensation in need of an image revamp. So his team searches for the perfect next door type of girl who is not famous so as to give his fans the illusion that they stand a chance with him. Enter Vaughn. She’s amazing, down to earth and hell-bent to take care of her family after her parents died and left her, her older sister and her twin brothers orphans. Her older sister is the main provider so when Oakley’s agent presents her a huge one year deal she can’t say no.

I loved how Oakley and Vaughn were different from when they had to stage pics and appearances and when they were alone, I just loved them! Also it showed the other side of the camera, what you see isn’t always what is happening, I liked that approach.

The only thing that I didn’t like was the cliché of the douche ex boyfriend and the bad PR people doing stuff behind their client’s back, I mean, come on keep it real and believable, there’s so much that can happen in a situation like that one. But other than that, all the yeses! When It’s Real is the perfect summer read ?

about the author

Erin Watt is the brainchild of two bestselling authors linked together through their love of great books and an addiction to writing. They share one creative imagination. Their greatest love (after their families and pets, of course)? Coming up with fun–and sometimes crazy–ideas. Their greatest fear? Breaking up.
